About DEBORAH BUROW
Deborah Burow, North Cape May, NJ
Since 2nd grade I have adored art and been passionate about painting.
For many years I only water colored. Then I tried pastels; after the detail and control of watercolor, I felt like I was painting with mittens. The contrast in process and end products became a respite from each kind of painting. Switching between mediums is a challenge but I like the results. Eventually I tried acrylics and again, very much enjoyed a medium that was totally different from what I had been using previously. Then collage became a new venture and I loved that also. I enjoy whimsical and stylized images as well as more realistic representations. But all my work is about COLOR. One can never have too much color!
My career started as an art director in advertising and most recently has included teaching art and Special Education. Teaching is a delight, and fills my time when I am not painting. Most of the hours in my day are consumed with painting.
I live near the beach so seashore scenes are popular subjects, as well as whimsical images that tell a story. As long as God continues to give me opportunity to paint, I will never stop. It is one of the pure joys of my life.
